Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice president and MLC, GN Monga today questioned the silence maintained by the Government of India (GoI) and state government over the present situation in the Valley. While talking to Press Trust of Kashmir Monga said that Kashmir is a political issue and has to be resolved politically as per the wishes and aspirations of the people. He said, “Military solutions can't be used to resolve a political problem.

The government in New Delhi should acknowledge the adverse implications of the status quo in Kashmir”. He added that it’s really unfortunate that sate govt ignore Kashmir issue. He added that dialogue is always only way to solve issues, whether it was in 2002 or today. “Several wars have been fought but the issue has not been resolved. You cannot resolve issues with guns or armies”, he added. He said that govt should understand what people want from them as they know what is the situation in Kashmir. Monga further added that asserting that the situation in Kashmir was at its worst. He said that stressed the need to open a dialogue with all stakeholders, including the Hurriyat Conference and Pakistan, to restore peace in the Valley.

He said that you (GoI and State govt) have to talk with Pakistan either today or tomorrow they need to know about Kashmir then why govt is wasting their time. He added that it is the government’s basic and primary responsibility to ensure peace and stability and safeguard the lives and make feel people safe. Since the past years not only has the PDP-BJP Government failed to ensure peace and stability, but it has gone a step further to rob the people of peace of mind. Government has no policy for the resolution of Kashmir issue. Only making bankers cannot resolve issue, he said. (KNO)
